And then there are times where I just need a quick hit, a spicy romance fix without having to wade through lengthy prose. Well, these are those books! They are short, fast-paced reads that will deliver a hit of steamy romance to quench your thirst.

The Dragon’s Bride by Katee Robert

The Dragon’s Bridge is an urban fantasy romance and the first book in Katee Robert’s new series, A Deal with a Demon. If you have read any of Robert’s books and enjoyed them, then you’ll like this one too. The FMC is a regular human and the MMC is a legit lizard/dragon dude (see cover) who possesses an extra dangly bit (if ya know what I mean). Seeking refuge from an abusive relationship, Briar makes a deal with a demon and is sold to Sol, the Dragon King, for the next seven years of her life in exchange for her freedom after.
I always find myself nervous giggling through the majority of Katee Robert’s books and The Dragon’s Bride was no exception (uhm yes, the extra dangly bit but also the mechanics of a human and dragon lizard dude hooking up). Anyways, it’s a quick entertaining read with plenty of imaginative spice, perfect to drag you out of a book slump or binge while travelling over this holiday season.

The Never King by Nikki St. Crowe

This is a retelling of Peter Pan – actually, I think it’s more appropriate to say that this book is inspired by Peter Pan, since it barely resembles the classic. Have a look at the trigger warnings for this one as there are scenes of explicit violence, sexual and otherwise. They aren’t called the Vicious Lost Boys for nothing.
