A new month means new bookish goodies! The end of the year is quickly approaching but that doesn’t mean that our reading is ending. If you are anything like me, you’ll be finishing the year with a bigger TBR than when you started. But that’s just fine by me! November and December are always hectic months for my family and fantasy romances provide a sweet escape after long days of organising, socialising, and cleaning (and cleaning and cleaning).
There are some cracking good books set to be released in December 2022 that I have been patiently waiting for, so here are a few of my fantasy romance picks. Let me know what new books you’re keen to read!
Queen of Myth and Monsters
by Scarlett St. Clair
Queen of Myth and Monsters is the next book in St. Clair’s newest epic fantasy series (Adrian X Isolde). A re-read of book one, King of Battle and Blood, will be necessary before tackling this next instalment but I am very much looking forward to more of Isolde and Adrian’s complicated bond and how they reconcile the past relationship with their present and future.
Queen of Myth and Monsters will be released 27 December 2022.
The Wolf & the Wildflower by Ella Fields
I really enjoyed The Savage and the Swan, Ella Fields’s retelling of the classic The Swan Princess, so I’m looking forward to seeing what she has in store for The Wolf & the Wildflower, which will be set in the same world. Fields has already claimed that there will not be a cliffhanger in The Wolf and the Wildflower, so, since it’s a standalone, you don’t have to commit to reading a full series to get your happily-ever-after ending.
The Wolf & the Wildflower will be released 7 December 2022.
Anastasia by Sophie Lark
I have a terrible confession to make; I have never read a Sophie Lark book. Despite her popularity and the rave reviews her books get, I am a little … intimidated by her work, which I understand to be primarily super spicy (sometimes taboo?) contemporary romance. BUT, this fantasy romance retelling of Anastasia, which I’m going to take a guess and say that it will be ‘Sophie Lark-spicy’ too, intrigues me. I’m hoping that this will be a good book to kick-off my Sophie Lark exploration.
Anastasia will be released 6 December 2022.
Celestial Academy: Essence
by Olivia Pharos
I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of Celestial Academy: Essence by Olivia Pharos. It’s the first book in a new fantasy series with a tension-filled, slow-burn romance, intricate world-building, and a well-planned plot.
